Coffee Stout

Description
This was my first attempt at creating a coffee stout. I followed a recipe for a Guinness clone I found on some web page somewhere, and added a batch of cold brewed coffee. My beer ingredients came from Home Sweet Home Brew in Philadelphia. The coffee came from The Head Nut in Swarthmore, PA.

Recipe
Grain bill:
  • 1/2 lb. Crystal
  • 1/2 lb. Roasted Barley
  • 1/3 lb. Flaked Barley
Extracts:
  • 1.75 lbs. Light Dry Extract
  • 4 lbs. Pale Liquid Extract
Hops:
  • 1 oz. Target (8.5%) 60 min.
  • 1/2 oz. East Kent Goldings (4.5%) 5 min
Yeast:
  • White Labs Irish Ale Yeast #WLP004
 Additives:
  • 1 lb. Coffee

Notes
The coffee is cold brewed and added just before bottling. Brew date was 12/23/2009. It was racked on 12/30/2009 and bottled 02/14/2010. This beer has gotten very positive reviews from nearly everyone who has tried it.
